The outdoor market season may be over, but Old Fort isn’t done showing up around town.

This Old Fort take on a familiar retro baseball look celebrates that connection—and Fort Wayne’s place in developing the next generation of big leaguers.

One of the best parts of building something local is getting to share what goes into it.

Today, Nick from Pulled & Pressed and I had the opportunity to welcome the Bishop Luers business class into the shop for a behind-the-scenes look at design, apparel production, branding, merchandising, inventory and the day-to-day realities of running a business as they prepare to launch and operate their own Bishop Luers Spirit Store.

The students didn’t just hear about the process—they stepped behind the press and printed shirts of their own.

Thank you to Bishop Luers for inviting us to be part of that experience—and to Nick for opening the shop and sharing his knowledge. The future of local business is in good hands.

October baseball has looked a little different through the years.

In 1903, the Boston Americans and Pittsburgh Pirates met in what is now recognized as the first modern World Series.

Among the players on the field was Chick Stahl—born in nearby Avilla and closely connected to Fort Wayne, where he spent much of his offseason.

Stahl became one of Boston’s biggest contributors in the series, collecting 10 hits and three triples while batting .303. He was the only Boston player to hit .300 as the Americans won the championship in eight games.

More than 120 years later, another postseason is underway—and Northeast Indiana still has a small place in the story of October baseball.

The Old Fort Youth Collection was created for the next generation of Fort Wayne baseball fans—the kids growing up with the stories, teams and traditions that make this city’s history so special.
