Some quick tips and tricks for summer dance intensives.
1. Prepare with a packing list
This will ensure that you have everythign you could need while at the intensive. We wouldn't want to forget anything.
2. Label Everything
Water bottles, shoes, warm-ups, toe pads, makeup bags, summer intensives move fast, and things get mixed up easily. A name label can save a lot of stress.
3. Pack a “Quick Fix” Dance Bag Kit
Include blister bandages, extra tights, safety pins, hair supplies, sewing kit items, deodorant, rosin, and snacks. You’ll thank yourself later.
4. Keep notes either on a book or app
Write corrections, choreography notes, combinations, and teacher feedback after class. It helps dancers improve faster throughout the intensive.
5. Prioritize Recovery
Stretch after classes, hydrate constantly, eat enough protein and carbs, and try to get good sleep. Recovery is just as important as training.
6. Think of the future opportunies
Summer intensives are a great place to make connections, learn from new teachers, and grow as a dancer. Stay positive, work hard, and be open to future opportunities that may come from the experience.
