Fifteen years ago, I opened One Fine Day Bridal at 27 years old. Now, I’ve officially spent more of my adult life owning a bridal shop than I have not—which feels a little wild to say out loud.

Over the years, I’ve learned so much about owning a small business, running a bridal boutique, building a team, serving brides, and creating a wedding dress shopping experience that I truly believe in.

So, in honor of One Fine Day’s 15th birthday, I’m sharing the 5 biggest lessons I’ve learned in 15 years of owning a bridal shop.

Some took me years to learn and some I’m still working on.

From learning not to take every customer interaction personally, to understanding that mistakes are opportunities to improve, to building a team you can trust—and, perhaps most importantly, treating every bride the way I would want to be treated as a bridal customer.

Because after 15 years, I’ve learned that owning a successful bridal shop isn’t just about wedding dresses. It’s about people, relationships, trust, customer experience, and creating a place where brides feel supported while making one of the biggest decisions of their wedding planning journey.
