A little bit about me as a Maker. I have had creative juices running through me since childhood. I submitted art into art contests, my grandmother taught me to sew at an early age, I tried needle pointing in Camp Fire and so many other things. My biggest drawback is my desire for perfection.
When my husband and I started a family and with the arrival of our son, I got really into quilting. You know those Central Market ads asking things like are you really into food, well that is me with fabric! I have a stash that would rival a small fabric store! 🤣
I don't remember what made me experiment with deconstructed Mexican dresses - but whew, I am glad I did! I have sewed my way through well over 500 dresses.👗 And that is A LOT when you think that I get 3 - 5 items out of each dress. I hate leaving any embroidery for scraps.
About four years ago, I began shell art.🐚 I had collected thousands of shells from the Texas Coastline and I had no clue what to do with them. I first started decopauging them. I made bottle collars and napkin rings.
A year ago I began to paint shells. Then I turned them into framed art pieces. I began building an inventory when my life took a sudden turn. My husband tragically passed away. My entire life was turned upside down. I didn't step foot into my creative studio space for 8 months.
One day, I decided to walk back in there. I stared at my work space. Time had just stopped. Projects were left in mid work. Honestly, I didn't know how I would ever sit down and be creative ever again. But one day I rolled up to my sewing machine and began to sew. I even wrote a pattern.
Over the next few days I reaquainted myself with the creative process and there was something very healing happening. Everything that is found in my pop-up is made by me. I have poured myself into it. I hope you love the styles, the craftsmanship and the love I have put into the products.
