Hello All! In 11 days, I will be riding in the Tour de Tonka bike ride for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation & Team Challenge. This charity is important to me. After a lifetime of stomach issues, I was finally diagnosed with Crohn's in 2010. Many people suffer silently from these two diseases because the symptoms can be embarrassing. This is my 4th event with Team Challenge. I fundraise for this charity because without them there would be less research being done.

Crohn's doesn't have a cure. Currently, the medicines used are ones that keep your immune system from attacking your digestive system. I hope that one day researchers will find out why the immune system does this so that there are better options for managing the disease.

Hello All! Please accept my apologies, we have been very quiet lately. We have had many personal challenges lately that have been a priority. Earlier this year, my business partner/mother was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. On May 2, she underwent surgery. The surgery was successful. We are blessed that the cancer was caught early and she is cancer free. She has been recovering well from surgery and in a few weeks it will be 8 weeks post surgery. At that time, her restrictions will be lifted.

That isn't all that has happened. A couple weeks before my mom's surgery, my daughter fractured her ankle at the growth plate and joint. We are very fortunate that it was not dislocated. My daughter had a cast for about a month, then she was upgraded to a boot. Currently, she still has the boot. She goes for a follow up next week and hopefully the boot can come off. Walking with crutches was (initially) a challenge in a 2 story house. Showering was an adventure, but made easier with a tub bench from our Salvation Army. My daughter learned how to navigate with crutches and became quite fast. She ended up wearing the tips off the crutches!

A very minor last thing, I caught Strep Throat several days before my mom's surgery. Fortunately, it was caught with enough time to get some antibiotics in me before the surgery, so that I could go to the hospital. Also very happy that my mom (and no one else) caught it.

Thank you for taking time to read this post! After the cast came off, the nurse asked if we wanted to keep it. I said 'Yes' (of course). I challenged my stepdad to create a lamp or something interesting. Well he hit it out of the park. We now have a one-of-a-kind lamp. We truly know how to upcycle!

Hello everyone! I am really excited to share my next Team Challenge for Crohn's & Colitis Fundraising event. On August 3rd, I will be riding in the Tour de Tonka in Minnesota. This will be my 4th event with Team Challenge. I am also excite to announce that I will their Honored Hero for the ride. This means that I am an official 'Cheerleader' for the team and I am honored to give a speech at the pre-ride dinner.

Over the last couple of years, our personal contractor made several wood projects for us and others. One project was 4 shadow boxes for Arni's. Next time you are eating there, check out the 4 boxes above the seating in the 'waiting' area. This Christmas season crosses were made, another shadow box, and 2 LARGE wood frames for art paintings.

We love custom projects. Our contractor is great at taking a concept, creating the design, then masterfully making it.

Today is the 2nd anniversary of my good friend, Jason Wilhite. As most know, he worked at the Chamber. During our journey of becoming business owners, we started going to the Town Hall meetings hosted at the Chamber.

Our friendship started because we were creating a business. From 2016 till 2021, we became good friends. We even served on the Historic Preservation Commission together.

December 2021 started in a wonderful fashion. The first December weekend I was out of town with my husband, step-brother, and his significant other. We were celebrating a birthday and half-marathon fun. Usually Jason would send me messages when I was away. He always asked me about my race. This weekend, he hadn't.

For whatever reason, I didn't send him a message either when I got home. We tend to take for granted how much time is life on this Earth. Had I known his untimely death was near, I would have sent him many messages. We don't know. Even though December 2021 started on a happy note, it changed very quickly on the 10th.

My last interaction was on Small Business Saturday. He came in with the Chamber and did a quick fb live plus a gift for a customer. He loved the Duke Cannon soaps. He would see advertising from Duke Cannon with their latest soap. He always asked if we had it or if we were getting it in. Many times I would hand deliver the soap to his office, then stay and talk. Our last interaction was him purchasing the latest DC soap scent.

December 10th will always be Jason Wilhite Day. Because of his love of Duke Cannon, tomorrow I will be posting products available, plus some deals. If you have never tried any, tomorrow will be a great day to purchase.
