Make your house a home decorating tip: Collect and display things you truly love. Edit out the excess and focus on a couple of items that can be a focal point. This is one of my favorite pieces of art in my home. It hangs prominently in my kitchen. My son Alexander painted this pear still life when he was a student in Chris Babcock’s painting class in SF. He was 6 at the time.

The key to life is follow thru. Once you start something continue whole heartedly - move towards the positive and see what happens. I apply this sentiment to many parts of my life. This whimsical container is on a front porch near my home.

Still life of a vintage industrial spotlight by Father John Takahashi. Around 2016-17. He stopped by Poetica Art and Antiques several years ago and asked if he could draw this vintage light. He made a collection of Bay Area notecards with his sketches that are still for sale on a monastery website. I love the many interesting and creative people I’ve met while living in California.

My morning coffee and work setting. I love mixing styles together. Contemporary Walnut ‘Aria’ Room and Board pedestal dining table with 4 Italian fruitwood dining chairs c. 1920. Antique primitive french rush seat arm chair with two gilded mat framed egg prints. Antique Chinese celadon porcelain bowl with 5 clawed dragons dancing around the sides. Beneath the table a simple basket weave sawgrass layered with a 4x6 Persian rug.
