Dear Ten Thousand Villages Family,
We hope you can Join us Saturday for our penultimate sale: 5201 Alabama Ave., 10-4!

Or, if you are in the Hermitage area, come out to see us at the United Methodist Church on Belinda Drive from 9am - 3pm.

We need to let you know that despite our best efforts, we were unable to secure a new brick-and-mortar location that was financially viable. It is with a heavy heart that we share that our beloved local nonprofit will be dissolving.

It’s been an amazing 23 years of sharing vibrant stories and beautiful handicrafts right here in Nashville. Your commitment to our fair trade mission has made a profound impact on the lives of artisans and their communities around the world.
We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support you have given us throughout this journey. However, your commitment to supporting artisans does not have to end here! We all can still play a vital role in this mission by shopping online from tenthousandvillages.com. Each purchase you make supports artisans, preserves heritage crafts and empowers communities. Together, we can continue to make a difference, one handcrafted treasure at a time.

IT’S THE SEASON FOR FAIR TRADE! Why? Fall begins the holiday season – the time for gathering, celebrating, decorating, sharing gratitude, and gifting! A purchase from Ten Thousand Villages ticks all the boxes. In addition to exquisitely hand-made tableware and decor items, each gift is actually two gifts in one – a present for a delighted recipient, plus dignity and opportunity for the artisans who are fairly paid to make it!
Ornaments for yourself and your home represent diverse cultures around the globe!
The delightful albesia wood Tangled Up Cat Ornament is hand-carved and hand-painted by Indonesian artisans with artisan partner Mitra Bali. The Lapis Tree Drop Earrings are studded with small lapis stones on twisted brass wire by artisans with Asha Handicrafts from India, which has promoted the social and economic development of artisans throughout India for more than 40 years.
The Peace Dove ornament also comes from India, crafted by Noah’s Ark. The Ica Drop earrings, hand-crafted from copper, bronze, and gold-plated silver are made by Allpa in Peru, and are simple enough for every day, yet unique enough to make a statement.
WHERE can you find our fair trade treasures? We’re open every day at the Painted Tree Boutique, 1113 Murfreesboro Rd. in Franklin. And we’re planning some HOLIDAY POP-UPS!
• Nov. 9, 9:00-3:00 - Host of Christmas Past, First United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, TN

This week, RECYCLED SARIS are the star of the show! Many of these items are made by artisans supported by fair trade partner Hajiganj. Located in one of the poorest areas of Bangladesh, where people are otherwise dependent on hiring out to rich farmers for very low wages, Hajiganj provides artisans with profit distribution, a producer security fund, medical allowance and skill development.
In poor communities in Bangladesh and India, women have only one sari which they wear every day. When Ten Thousand Villages orders items, they pay half in advance so that artisans don't have to invest their own money in materials. With these funds, the artisans can buy fabric to make themselves a new garment.
Then they can take the old dress and make beautiful items from it. They use every scrap of that fabric, using the smallest pieces for small objects such as the sari flowers. As a result, they are able to support their families. Like all of the artisans we work with, they have a better life because of your purchases and because of our way of doing business.
Find these beautiful items at our booth at the Painted Tree, 1113 Murfreesboro Rd. in Franklin.
