Last of my throwbacks, for now, is a project very close to my heart. This is my biggest design and build to date. Everything you see was sewn, dyed, riveted, and more by me!
This was complete costume design and construction for the NCTC Drama Spring 2022 Women’s History Month production of THE REVOLUTIONISTS by Lauren Gunderson, directed by Missy Embrey. Missy is my sister, best friend, and arguably my favorite person to collaborate with, and when she came to me with the vision of all four of these powerful women being visually stripped down to their most vulnerable, I was ecstatic. This was a chance to exercise my fashion history knowledge and creativity, doing undergarments from 18th century France, which are still wildly modest per today’s standard. These costumes included dyed muslin chemises, 18th century stays spiral bound and 100% b***d, panniers, bum pads, hoop skirts, and loads of embellishments.
