This incredible network of arteries at the base of your brain helps provide alternative pathways for blood flow when circulation is compromised.
In honor of AVM Awareness Month, we're wearing our anatomy with a purpose!
A brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels where arteries connect directly to veins, bypassing the normal capillary network. These abnormal connections can increase the risk of bleeding in the brain, seizures, and other neurological complications.
While the Circle of Willis is a normal part of our brain's vascular anatomy, this shirt is a reminder of just how intricate-and important—our brain's blood supply really is.
