I opened the doors for business exactly 40 years ago today after I had signed the lease April 1, 1984!
I'm so thankful for each and every one of you for making these 40 years quite the ride!

Two years after i opened rock of ages, i was fortunate enough to do business with the royal oak theatre. Stevie ray vaughan had played several nights that week. Here i am backstage and a friend said "hey stevie, this is bob, he owns a record store and would like to meet you" So stevie said let's go into this side room away from the crowd. He grabbed a chair at this long table and began to sign my album you see here. We had small talk about the show and his brother's band the fabulous thunderbirds who opened up. I gave him a handful of rock of ages buttons which he kindly pinned on his bandana. I got invited back to the bands hotel for some beers after the show in the hotel bar and listening to stories from a zz top roadie. What a memorable night!

I REMEMBER THAT IN STORE!
Well, our very first in store meet and greet was with detroit's heavy metal horror show (And still going), Halloween! Brian,George,Bill,and Rick. The beginning of more in stores to come! We had a great time and myself not knowing what direction or if rock of ages was going to survive back in 1984, it all started to come together as a premier rock n roll store!
