I travel back and forth between our locations in Huntington and Gauley Bridge. Mayor Bob Scott called to ask where I was - On interstate in Milton - and he told me the building BETWEEN or Mill building and our building being renovated was ON FIRE !!! Luckily no one was hurt and the double walls of these old buildings stood strong 💪- but our building are full of smoke. It could be worse and we’re incredibly grateful to the Gauley Bridge Fire Department and neighboring departments and the Gauley Bridge Police for responding so quickly - but my heart is heavy. So much work behind us and now so much more ahead. Deep sigh.

Be honest… how many festival fleeces are still waiting in your studio from last year?

Buying the fleece is the fun part.
Skirting, washing, drying, and picking it is where a lot of good wool gets stuck in a tote bag.

Blue Thistle Fiber Mill is offering small-batch Festival Fleece Rescue processing for hand spinners, felters, and fiber artists. No minimum.

If you picked up one or two fleeces (or more...no judgement) at a recent Sheep & Wool Festival— or you already have a fleece sitting at home — we can help turn it into clean, opened fiber that is easier to spin, felt, dye, or blend.

Our first trip to Maryland Sheep & Wool and it did not disappoint! Lots of new fleeces to process- so many breeds to pick from. More about that later! And I resisted hard buying anything else but could not pass by some beautiful yarn from !

Thank you to everyone who came today ! I’d planned to live stream and all kinds of social media extravaganza, but we were so busy talking to people we didn’t take a single picture. Thankfully, others did and shared. Today was a culmination of 6 months of work and collaboration between many partners, including the Town of Gauley Bridge and Coalfield Development . Onward!
