What’s your VO2 Max?

VO₂ Max Standards by Age and Gender 🏃 🏃‍♀️

Every runner has seen the number on their watch. Fewer know what it actually measures.

WHAT IS VO₂ MAX?

VO₂ max is the ceiling on how much oxygen your body can pull in and use when you are working hard. It is written as milliliters per kilogram of body weight per minute, which is why lighter runners tend to score higher at the same fitness.

The chart shows where the general population sits. Find your age and s*x, read across.

Two things it will not tell you. It says nothing about how long you can hold an effort, which is what actually decides a race. And it drops about 10 percent per decade after 30 if you do nothing about it, which is the part worth paying attention to.

The good news is that it responds to training faster than almost any other measure. Consistent weekly mileage moves it. So do intervals, and so does sleeping properly.

🏆 HISTORIC DAY AHEAD FOR SCOTT COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY! 👟🔥

What started just three years ago as an ambitious idea is now on track to be the largest cross country race ever held in Scott County!

On Saturday, September 5th, the 3rd Annual Run Wild Fall Classic returns to the Georgetown Soccer Complex! Schools from all over the region are heading our way for a massive day of competition, community, and fun.

Here is what makes this year truly special:

🍦 Popsicles with the SCPD: The Scott County Police Department will be hanging out all day and handing out cold popsicles to every single competing athlete!

🤠 “Run Wild” Custom Awards: Forget small medals. The top 25 finishers in every single race win custom, signature large belt buckles!

📣 The Overall XC Spirit Award: Bringing the loudest fans? Your team could take home the coveted Spirit Award (held by St. John School from last year!).

Run Wild coach and 13-time state champ Ron Duncan says it best: “Our team is looking to build on their recent successes and develop our runners for longevity in the sport.” It’s all about building a lifelong love for running!

Trail runners couldn’t help but notice my Mizuno Neo Accera trail running shoes at the start line over the weekend! Let me say these shoes heavily influenced the outcome of the race with a course PR and an overall W!

Our very first batch of kids’ just landed at the shop, and he stopped by to help us show off this awesome new gaming print.

We absolutely love our community of young runners here in Georgetown. It is such a joy watching them grow, smash their goals, and bring so much energy to the sport.
