Tomorrow’s Saturday Set is shaping up to be a good one.

Michael Chandler & Shane Smith hit Georgetown Underground tomorrow afternoon with a mix of country storytelling, acoustic grit, and Appalachian soul that fits perfectly inside a record store. Whether you’re into classic country, folk, southern rock, or just discovering local artists, this duo brings a little bit of all of it to the stage.

Spend your Saturday downtown flipping through records, grabbing a drink, and catching live music in an intimate setting.

The Saturday Set returns June 6 with Jonathan New bringing an afternoon of road-worn storytelling, acoustic jams, and decades of live music experience to Georgetown Underground.

Originally from the Lake Cumberland area of Kentucky, Jonathan started performing in church as a kid before growing into a multi-instrumentalist and touring musician who’s shared stages with names like Willie Nelson, John Prine, Blackberry Smoke, and Merle Haggard. From Nashville to Las Vegas, he’s taken his music all over the country, and now he’s bringing it to downtown Georgetown.

If you like laid-back acoustic sets with real stories behind the songs, make plans to spend your Saturday afternoon with us.

Fresh batch on the floor today and there are some killer copies hiding in here!

A few highlights:
• The Rolling Stones Still Life live album
• Steely Dan classics including Can’t Buy A Thrill, Countdown to Ecstasy, and Pretzel Logic
• Bruce Springsteen’s Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle
• Spirit’s The Family That Plays Together
• Bob Seger’s Beautiful Loser
• MFSB, Mason Proffit, JD Crowe, Men At Work, Loretta & Conway, and more

There are some really cool collector copies in this batch too. The Steely Dan Can’t Buy A Thrill copy is an ABC pressing, the Bruce titles are early Columbia pressings with the classic textured covers, and a few of the Stones records still have their original inner sleeves intact. We spent a lot of time checking deadwax, inserts, and condition on these yesterday while pricing.

This is the kind of mix we love putting out at GU. Rock, country, bluegrass, jazz-rock, soul, weird stuff, classics, and records you forgot existed until you saw the cover again.

Open 11–7 today. Come dig before the best copies disappear!

We’re excited to host Rhyme or Reason with Mina James at Georgetown Underground on June 12 and 13!

This will be a cabaret-style performance featuring singing, storytelling, and a more personal look at Mina’s journey as a performer. Rather than a typical concert, this kind of show gives the audience a chance to hear the songs along with the meaning, memories, and moments behind them.

Mina attends Belmont in Tennessee and is preparing to attend the Open Jar Institute Summer Intensive, a training opportunity focused on musical theatre performance, professional development, and working with industry professionals.

Tickets are $10 each, and proceeds will go to Mina to help with travel expenses.

June 12 & 13

This coming Wednesday at Georgetown Underground, we’ve got Kyle Biggs bringing an evening of stripped-down country, heartfelt songwriting, and the kind of acoustic set that feels right at home in a record shop. Originally from Upstate New York and now part of the Georgetown music scene, Kyle’s style pulls from artists like Tyler Childers and Zach Bryan with plenty of his own personality mixed in.

Come hang out, flip through records, grab a beer, and catch live music in a laid-back hometown setting.
