A customer walked into the shop thinking he just needed lenses.
Then, almost as an afterthought, he mentioned another pair of glasses sitting broken at home.
A rare buffalo horn Tom Ford frame.
Another shop had broken the frame, shrugged, and said
“Yeah… that’s done.”
Now, buffalo horn isn’t like ordinary acetate. It’s organic. Natural. Beautiful. Every frame is slightly unique. And when it breaks, especially near the bridge, things get complicated fast.
Then we saw the damage.
The eyewire had split lengthwise right at the bridge.
Not just a crack.
A structural split in one of the most stressed parts of the frame… and one that sits directly against the wearer’s face.
That changes everything.
Because now the repair doesn’t just have to hold.
It has to be strong, stable, smooth, comfortable, and cosmetically clean enough to disappear into the frame itself.
Most shops won’t touch repairs like this. Honestly, we understand why.
One wrong move and it's over for good.
Too much material removed and the structure weakens.
Too aggressive with adhesives and the repair becomes visible forever.
But we love challenges like this.
So we slowed down.
Worked the repair carefully.
Rebuilt and stabilized the split.
Refinished the surface.
Then fitted the frame with brand new lenses.
And somehow…
The frame this client thought was dead came back to life.
That’s the thing about truly great eyewear:
Sometimes it doesn’t need to be replaced.
It needs someone stubborn enough to save it.
At Corner Optical, we believe objects made with care deserve care in return.
And seeing someone put a beloved frame back on after thinking they’d lost it forever?
That’s the good stuff.
