To all my old and new customers…first and foremost I’d like to thank you all for bringing your business to me and trusting in me!
(This is a little long but I hope you’ll take the time to read)
Moving forward into 2026, I will not be taking things unless the due date is at least a month or more ahead. I try to help everyone but it’s taking it’s toll on me. Also, I don’t like making other customers wait, even when they are not in a hurry. Yes there are items that come to me that are seasonal….for example, coats and jackets for winter that are brought to me during spring and summer. They won’t be done right away and will have to wait depending how busy I am. (Spring and summer into early fall are usually busy)
Also, when you have more than 5 items to alter or mend, they will not be taken all at once. I will have to break it up. My system and process has worked well till this year, but has to change because my business has expanded so much!
I am so very grateful for all of you putting your trust in me!! I don’t want to disappoint anyone by turning them away but I will have to in the future. I need to maintain my self care and my home while also having a life with my family and friends. My Mom passed away this year and that has been stressful too. I’m sure a lot of us can relate.
My busiest time of year is prom season. I had 62 jobs to do from April 28 to before June 7. I had to turn away 6 customers and that’s the first year I’ve had to! Some helpful hints to keep in mind….Dresses with horsehair, layers of tulle and beading are not always simple so consider that when you are shopping to be sure you’re giving me enough time. Try not to get dresses too small or crazy big as they may not be possible to do. This year I also made a tie for the prom date out of the gowns hem. However, it depends if there’s enough fabric to do it. I get that not everyone can think like a seamstress but do your best to think about it?
There were a few that brought their dresses in March and got them done early because they knew how busy I get. Maybe this coming year you can keep that in mind too.
I also want to add that I now have an embroidery machine that can do smaller jobs. I have done a couple of jobs already and customers and I were pleased with results. Keep in mind it is not industrial but you can always ask if job is doable. It is still a learning process so I’m hoping to take more time to experiment with it more.
Thank you for listening! I hope you know how much I appreciate each and everyone of you!! I feel truly blessed to have met so many wonderful people and can even call some of them friends!
