FGU Restored Near 8/8 All Original Wade & Butcher For Barbers Only Straight Razor

Wade & Butcher For Barbers Only are extremely rare, especially in this condition. The width of the blade at its widest point is 1/16 short of 8/8. I dismantled and restored all of the components of this razor. Everything is original. I restored this very heavy quarter hollow to a polished, machined finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. Like all my restorations, I kept the lines of the blade sharp and clean, which has maintained the esthetic of the razor. The excellent etching is completely intact on the tang. It has a very thin bevel and it took an excellent edge. The original horn scales are straight and are polished to a high shine. I finished the razor with the original lead wedge and brass beehive collars. Honed to 30k Shapton Glass and stropped to shave ready.

**** SOLD **** FGU Restored 17/16 Wade & Butcher Celebrated For Barber's Use Straight Razor - 600USD

I restored this heavy quarter hollow to a polished finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. I only used very high grit abrasives to preserve the blade face etching. "Celebrated" FBU blades date back to the mid 19th century and those with intact blade face etching are hard to find. The width of the blade at its widest is a hair over 17/16 and it has a 1/4 inch plus wide spine. It took an excellent edge as do all Butcher razors. I restored the original buffalo horn scales and polished them to a high luster. I finished the razor with the original lead wedge and original brass beehive collars. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready.

FGU Restored 8/8 Wade & Butchers For Barbers Use - 500USD

I restored this large, heavy near wedge to a polished machined finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. "Wade & Butcher For Barbers Use" blades with larger print were manufactured between 1840 & 1880. The tang stamp lettering is complete, deep, and clear, which is somewhat rare with these blades. The width of the blade at its widest is a hair short of 8/8. Like all my restorations, I kept the lines of the blade sharp and clean, which has maintained the esthetic of the razor. The blade faces are flat, square, and even. It has an extremely thin bevel and it took an excellent edge as do all Butchers. I made the polished scales from black G10. G10 is an extremely strong material and will last forever if not abused. I finished the razor with a polished black acrylic wedge and polished solid stainless steel triple stack collars. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready.

***** SOLD ***** FGU Restored 13/16 W. Greaves & Sons WR Trademark Universally Approved - 250USD

I restored this heavy wedge to a polished machined finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. WR crown stamped blades are very rare and are among the earliest Greaves razors, which were manufactured between 1830 and 1837. The width of the blade at its widest is 13/16. Like all my restorations, I kept the lines of the blade sharp and clean, which has maintained the esthetic of the razor. I also ground the blade in a way to ensure the blade face stamp was not greatly affected. It has a very thin bevel and it took an excellent edge as do all Greaves razors. I straightened and restored the original buffalo horn scales and polished them to a high luster. They look fantastic. I finished the razor with the original polished lead wedge and original polished brass collars. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready.

Worldwide shipping up to $15 included, which will pay for USPS First Class International.

Restored 6/8 Wade & Butcher Royal VR Mark Straight Razor

I restored this heavy near wedge to a polished machined finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. VR marked Wade & Butchers are very rare and finding one with a deep, clear tang stamp is even rarer. Like all my restorations, I kept the lines of the blade sharp and clean, which has maintained the esthetic of the razor. The blades faces are very flat and even. It has a very thin bevel and it took an excellent edge as do all Butchers. I straightened, restored, and polished the original camel bond scales. I finished the the razor with the original lead wedge and polished solid brass dome collars. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready.

Restored 13/16 W. Greaves & Sons Sheaf Works Straight Razor

I restored this half-quarter hollow to a polished machined finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. Like all my restorations, I kept the lines of the blade sharp and clean, which has maintained the esthetic of the razor. It has a thin bevel and it took an excellent edge as do all Greaves. I made the traditional shaped scales from translucent red tortoise acrylic. I finished the the razor with a smoke acrylic wedge and polished solid brass cup collars. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready. I could not get the blade to close in the center of the scales. It closes towards the back scale, so the blade will need to be guided in the scales. Some Sheffield tangs are very wonky as these razors were cast in a mold and I suppose the molds became a bit worn over time. However, I always recommend guiding a straight razor blade closed anyway and the bevel rests in the middle when closed. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready.

Restored Near 8/8 George Wostenholm & Sons

I restored this very heavy near wedge to a polished machined finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. Like all my restorations, I kept the lines of the blade sharp and clean, which has maintained the esthetic of the razor. The width of the blade at its widest is less than 1/32 short of 8/8 and it has a 1/4+ thick spine. It has a very thin bevel and it took an excellent edge as do all Wostys. I made the traditional shaped scales from polished battleship grey G10. G10 is extremely strong and will last a lifetime if not abused. I finished the the razor with a smoke acrylic wedge and polished solid copper triple stack collars. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready.

Restored Near 17/16 George Wostenholm & Sons IXL

Big Wostys are rare. The width of the blade is 1/32 short of 17/16 at its widest point. I restored this large quarter hollow to a polished machined finish following the original manufacturer grind marks. It has a thin bevel and it took an excellent edge as do all Wostys. I made the scales from black G10 and ground them to reflect the grain of the material. The grain pattern came out perfect and the material is a good substitute for black horn. G10 is extremely strong and will last forever if not abused. I finished the razor with the original Sheffield lead wedge and polished small solid stainless cup collars. Honed to H5+ JNAT and stropped to shave ready.
