Play to your strengths. That’s what I’ve always been told. You don’t have to be the best at EVERYTHING to be great at SOMETHING. I think this applies to so many things in life, but definitely to horse showing.
I have shown all my life. From 4-H and open shows to some of the most competitive shows in the world. I’ve never had the most expensive or highly trained horses, never the biggest, fanciest rigs, not a member of the “in” crowd, and have never brought home any prestigious awards. No matter the budget or venue, the one thing I always felt like was mine to control, was presentation.
Whether it was clipping, bathing, banding, shining feet, tying in tails, and coordinating pads to go in a $5 Saturday night walk trot class, or searching for months for just the right pair of earrings to compliment a World Show outfit, all those details mattered, to me. So I played to my strengths.
I enjoy putting together outfits, whether it is for myself, my family/friends, or someone I barely know. Selecting complimentary color palettes, finding the most flattering fits and styles, tweaking their existing pieces, procuring those finishing touches, and then seeing the finished product…… I just love it. I have always (for some reason) found satisfaction in tedious, time-consuming, detail-oriented work, and this most assuredly fits the bill.
After years of being told I should do this, I’ve finally decided to at least give it a try. I honestly have no idea how much demand there is for this type of service or if there is any at all, but I hope to be able to provide a new/renewed source of confidence to anyone who would like to be styled. You should feel good in your show clothes, be confident in your presentation, and have some fun while you express yourself through your “looks”.
In terms of pricing, that will depend greatly on the extent of the services needed. Once I have an idea of what your specific needs/wants are, I will be able to provide an accurate pricing guide. Please bear with me. This is a bit of uncharted territory, at least for me. Designers, consignors, etc please feel free to forward info on your current and incoming inventory if you'd like. I tend to keep an eye on most of them already, but knowing what is available will surely help make the process a little more streamlined.
Looking forward to getting the ball rolling! Please feel free to message me anytime with questions. I do still work a full-time job, so don’t be discouraged if there is a slight delay in responding, I will get back with you as soon as possible.
