T-minus 8 days until Christmas! There's still time to give the gift of warmth this holiday season. Hand knit accessories make perfect gifts & stocking stuffers. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

Gowanda & surrounding areas- there are two ways to snag some GCHK originals: Visit Jesse's Home & Gifts and check out the turbans, cupcake hats, c.c. style hats with faux fur pom poms & beanies I have there. The shop is open Monday - Saturday, with extended hours. Additionally, I still have many items (including scarves & fingerless gloves) available in my inventory at home. Prices listed on each photo. PayPal or Cash. Can arrange to meet in Gowanda before Christmas Eve. Also available for contact free porch pick-up (PayPal or Cash can be left in mail slot) if you're social distancing. Comment/message me with any questions or to arrange purchase. Unfortunately, I won't have time to fulfill any new custom orders until after the New Year - still working on one last one and that's it! Happy Holidays & Thanks for supporting my small business! ๐Ÿงถโ˜ฎ๏ธ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

Gift shopping for the Christmas holiday season is here, and this year more than ever our local, home-grown, privately owned small businesses need our support. Get onboard with Small Business Saturday, tomorrow, November 28 and do some gift shopping at local businesses. Let's all help lift up each other this year, Gowanda.

GCHK supports fellow entrepreneurs, women-owned businesses, and members of the artisan and creative community. I am especially proud and grateful to have my knits available for purchase at hometown female-owned business, Jesse's Home and Gifts, located at 53 W. Main Street in Gowanda. I recently dropped off a selection of turban-styled ear warmers, beanies, cupcake hats & animal loveys/security blankies with pacifier clips. Prices listed in photos below. Jesse's is open Monday through Wednesday 10am until 5pm. Thursday 10am to 7pm. Friday and Saturday 10am until 5pm. There are so many great gift options from a wide array of talented artisans and local businesses.

In a year that has turned the world on it's head, I hope each of you can find something to be thankful for this holiday season. As a one-woman knitting machine who broke her wrist four months ago, I have so much to be thankful for this year. I am most thankful for those who have supported not only my business, but small businesses everywhere,
we couldn't have had a season without you. I hope all of you have a safe and happy holiday season.

Warm wishes and heartfelt thanks,
Jillian

This morning, 53 days after breaking both bones in my wrist, the surgical team @ UBMD Ortho gave me the green light to pick up my knitting needles again. My wrist still needs to heal and I have six weeks of physical therapy ahead of me so no binge knitting, but... I CAN KNIT AGAIN! Sooooo if all continues to go well, I'll have some new knits available for sale this fall & winter. Yay! Stay tuned.

Girl Can't Help Knit? More like Girl Can't Knit... for the forseeable future, anyway. My accident prone self slipped on slimey shale walking barefoot in the creek down in Zoar Valley, ending up with a rather brutal Colles fracture of my right (dominate) wrist on July 3rd. I spent Fourth of July in ECMC, first in the ER, where my wrist was placed in a medieval torture device and then in the OR, where my open fracture was cleaned out and stabilized with metal & seven stitches -- my first hospitalization, broken bone, surgery (that I remember), blood work, EKG, and stitches all in one shot at 35 years old. Lucky me! I was a trooper and shed zero tears. I had my first follow-up yesterday and my surgeon is pleased with my progress, but I still have a long road ahead before I can pick up knitting needles again. I can't do much of anything right now. The good news is that I WILL be able to knit again - knitting is actually great physio for a broken wrist. I'm hoping to be able to pick back up in the fall/winter, but time will tell. Fortunately, I spent most if the spring restocking knitwear during COVID-19 lockdown and will have product available as the weather cools. Updates to follow.

Hope everyone is staying safe & healthy as you practice social distancing during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I sure miss spending time with all my friends & family and, of course, hitting the craft stores to stock up on yarn. Thankfully, I have quite the stockpile and have been using all this extra time to add to my inventory for fall/winter 2020, when hopefully small businesses will be open and craft/vendor gigs can resume๐Ÿคž. Here's a bit of what I've been up to -- yes, I even taught myself how to knit face masks.

A few years ago I lost my mind and decided to knit Christmas stockings for my two oldest (& then only) nieces. I had zero clue what I was doing, didn't follow a pattern, & totally winged it. I still can't bring myself to give it another go. Thankfully, my mom still has this "Baby's First Christmas" stocking from 37 years ago for my baby niece...because she saves EVERYTHING. There's always next year...
