Dolly forged a dream for me. I used to watch our neighbor for hours doing hair in her home salon. Dolly did that as Truvie in Steel Magnolias. She created a space where people felt safe, a haven for women. A place where women could bicker but still love each other and where women could laugh and grieve together and walk out with beautiful hair. Dollys music influenced every artist I’ve listened to in my 40+ years of obsessing over music. She innovated rubbing her acrylic nails together to create iconic music. She boldly talked about her feminine power and her maintenance in being a woman. She was bold. She was kind. She was loving to so many who felt like they weren’t lovable by the rest of the world. Dolly never spoke on politics or religion, she only stood on what she believed which was love and kindness gets more respect than power and anger.

We can all learn from Dolly.

Find your sparkle in life. Breath goodness into the lungs of those who are around you. Most of all, be fearless while being kind. Be bold while being kind. Be you, while being kind.

Forever following in Ms. Truvies footsteps. My chair is a safe space. My salon is a safe space. Thank you Dolly for everything. 🦋✨💖
