Please find below the frequently asked questions and the process for gown alterations.

Scheduling Appointments
The timing of your appointments depends on several factors:

- Gown Arrival: If you are waiting for your gown, please schedule your appointments for one week after the estimated time of arrival (ETA). Do not wait until the gown arrives to schedule, as it may take 1 to 3 weeks for an availability and 4 to 15 weeks for completion.
- Size Changes: If you anticipate changes in weight, it is best to pre-schedule three appointments. Weight must be maintained for two months prior to the event.
- Availability: Appointments are available throughout the week, including weekends, on a rotating basis (one day for appointments, two days for sewing). If your schedule is not flexible, please book early.

If you are unsure when to schedule, please text 616-250-7665 for an assessment.

Appointment Duration and Punctuality

- Bridal Fittings: 1 hour.
- Other Formal Gowns: 30 minutes.
Please arrive on time. Arriving more than 15 minutes late may require rescheduling and a $30 fee.

Number of Fittings

- Minor Alterations (Hem, straps, bustles): Generally 2 appointments.
- Major Modifications (Lace, beads, bodice work): 3 to 5 appointments.

The Fitting Process

- 1st Fitting: We will discuss all necessary alterations. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required for bridal alterations exceeding $100. For all other gowns, full payment is due at pick-up.
- 2nd Fitting: This serves as a pick-up date for minor alterations or a fit-check for major modifications.
- 3rd Fitting: Typically the final pick-up. Any remaining balance is due at this time.

Important Requirements

- Shoes and Undergarments: You must bring the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear to every fitting. Failure to do so may result in additional charges.
- Weight/Measurement Changes: Any changes in measurements between fittings that require additional work will result in extra fees.
- Inspection: Please inspect your gown before leaving. Once the gown leaves the premises, any further adjustments or repairs will be subject to additional charges.
- Collection: Finished garments must be picked up within 30 days of the final appointment.
- Payment: We accept cash or check only.

Thank you,

Well Punxsutawney saw his shadow this year, so we may be in for another 6 weeks of winter. Regardless, Spring weddings are still in the forecast.
I hope everyone is having a good start into the New Year.
I got through my foot surgery and got some R&R on my vacation. Now it is time for some serious sewing in my sweat shop.
I am pleased to see that there are a lot of brides booking in their fitting appointments well in advance this year.
With early booking, you get more options in choosing your date and time for your appointments.
For more information about the process of getting your gown's alterations done and when to book your appointments, please scroll down a couple of posts ago.
It is best to text me at 616-250-7665 to book your appointments. I do not answer phone calls because I receive too many telemarketing phone calls every day. I will return your voicemail message via text. Texting is more convenient for me, as it avoids phone tag and longer than needed phone conversations.
I am looking forward to meeting all the future brides, mothers of the bride or groom and bridesmaids.
Have an Amasian Day everyone!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of my previous brides and future brides.

It was a shear pleasure working with them in making them feel Amasian in their wedding gown.

Season Greetings everyone!!

It's My with Amasian Alterations. I can't believe the end of the year is coming and how frrrreeeezing it is outside. Thank goodness I dont have an outdoor job.
I hope the year has been a great one, if not, may the next year be better.

Well it's a very rare occasion that I am slouched on a sofa, one foot propped up in the air, looking like an unamused growing sack of potatoes, flipping endlessly through Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, Disney, Facebook, YouTube etc.
After working profusely all year long, running a busy alteration business, keeping up with the chickies, and my passion for gardening/ indoor plants all came to an end. This energizer 🐰 bunny was forced to stop hopping around with so many ongoing projects due to a much needed foot surgery.

I don't do much posting, as I am very busy during the wedding season (Spring, Summer and Fall).
Winter is the only slow time that I have to catch up on my personal life, like foot surgery and hopefully well enough for a little vacation in January.

It was sew wonderful getting to meet and know all the brides, bridesmaids and mothers of the bride/groom.
Seeing all the joyful smiles 😃 and feeling of satisfactions knowing that these lovely ladies feel so Amasianly confident in their gown.

I am grateful for all the referrals, reviews and some very thoughtful clients who passed on generous gratuities as well. The kind reviews and the wonderful recommendations posted on Facebook, the Grand Haven inform and other forums has helped my very small business thrive in this tough economy.

I like to wish all the past clients and future clients to have a wonderful holiday season and see you in the future!

Frequently asked questions and the process of getting your gown's alterations.

When should the appointments be scheduled?

There are various factors that will affect when you should set up the appointments;

*Do you already have your gown or waiting for it's arrival? If waiting, then it's best to get an ETA of your gown, then schedule the appointments about 1 week after the ETA. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL the gown arrives to schedule the appointments. There may not be enough time to schedule in the 2 to 4 appointments that you may need. During the months of March through October, it may take 1 to 3 weeks for an appointment to be available, then 4 to 15 weeks for it's completion.

*If you are anticipating some weight or size changes, then it's best to pre schedule in 3 appointments. Any weight changes must be maintained for the 2 months prior to the wedding.

*If your work schedule is not flexible, then it's recommended to schedule early, so that there are more availabilities to choose.

Appointments are available throughout the week, including
Saturday or Sunday. However, appointments are not schedule for every day, as I do need days to sew. I do not have little elves sewing for me. ;)

Appointment days are on a rotation, 1 day for appointments from 10:30 a.m to 6:30 p.m, then it's 2 days of sewing, then it's back to 1 day for appointments, etc.
This is to accommodate everyone's work schedule, as not everyone works Monday through Friday.

If you are not sure when to schedule in your appointments, please text me at 616-250-7665 and I will assess the situation to determine the number of fittings and when to schedule.

How long is the appointment?

1 hour is reserved for 1st bridal fitting, 30 minutes for bridesmaids, mothers of the bride/groom, prom, homecoming, and other formal gowns.

Please arrive on time, as there are multiple back-to-back appointments on that day. If you arrive or will arrive more than 15 minutes late, a re-scheduling may take place if there is not sufficient time to complete your fitting before the next scheduled client. This may lead to a re-scheduling fee of $30, and a possible rush fee may be applicable if future appointments need to be moved as well.

How many appointments will it take?

2 appointments are generally needed for such alterations as hemming, strap adjustments, bustles, and other minor adjustments.

3 to 5 appointments are needed for gowns requiring the bodice area with lace/beads and/or major bodice modifications. Most fittings are done in 2 to 3 fittings.

What takes place at each of the fittings?

1st fitting,
$100 non-refundable deposit for bridal alterations that cost more than $100. All other gown's, a full payment is due at pick-up.

Remember to bring the shoes that you will be wearing for your event and any undergarments to all your fittings. Failure to do so, resulting in additional fitting, will result in additional charges.

At this appointment: we will discuss all the necessary alterations needed and any extra requests that you may want on your gown.

For any garments that need the bodice area to be worked on; a weigh-in/and/or body measurement will be taken. Any weight or body measurement changes between fittings that result in additional or different services are subject to additional charges.

An approximate cost will be provided after the 1st or 2nd appointment, depending on the circumstances. This cost may change if the required alterations are more difficult than anticipated. You will be notified.

2nd or final fitting;

Pick up date for minor alterations. 1/2 down payment or full payment for alterations that are less than $100.

If your gown has lace, beads or needed major bodice modification, this fitting is to see if the modified bodice area fits or need further adjustments; the lace and/or beads will be sewn in place once the gown fits.

3rd fitting;

Generally, this is the pick-up date, and any remaining balance is due.
It is at your discretion to inspect the gown and the fit of your gown. Once the gown leaves the premises, any issues that arise afterward, such as stains/tears and/or fit of the garment, may be subjected to additional charges. Appointment availability is not guaranteed.

Finished garments must be picked up within 30 days from the date of the last appointment date. After 30 days, Amasian Alterations will dispose of it in any form.

The forms of payments are cash or check only.

Thank you!

Happy holiday, everyone!

The year is coming to the end, and I hope everyone had a great year so far.

I had a very busy, productive year in making the lovely brides, bridesmaids, and mothers of the bride and groom look and feel Amasian in their gowns.

Just a brief FYI that I will be having foot surgery this coming week and will be taking a couple of weeks off to recover.

The first fitting appointments will begin on January 14th, 2025.

Warm wishes to everyone this holiday season.
