Original Anime Streetwear

Welcome to the shop, minna-san. My name is Ryan, founder of Imouri. We are a New York based Clothing & Lifestyle Brand dedicated to designing original Urban Streetwear Apparel & Accessories inspired by elements of Anime & Japanese Aesthetics.

Way back in early 2015, I started creating random designs that fit my own personal style. At the time, there were very few Anime Clothes or Anime Shirts that were not directly related to a show (and only the mainstream ones too, forget any of the underground titles). What I mean is that if you went out shopping for your next piece of Anime Apparel, you better believe it was going to have a full body pose of Naruto front and center doing some jutsu or something.

To some, that's exactly what they're looking for and to make it super clear, that's perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with that. For me, I was always left wanting something more subtle. Specifically, more original. Something that could capture the essence of what makes Anime, Anime.

Queue the lightbulb moment.

In 2016, I made the decision to privately launch a small brand that only focused on t-shirts. Just t-shirts (one of my favorite things to wear). I was going to take all of the designs I had finished up to that point and make these t-shirts, basically for myself, because I honestly wasn't 100% sure if anyone really had the same taste as me back then. For the first couple of months, I was my first and only customer, but by the end of 2016, I mustered up the courage and took a leap of faith to push the web store public, not expecting anything to happen.

Yet here we are. Since then, I haven't looked back. Things are much different now from how they were back then, but in the best of ways.

Today, all of us here strive to explore new mediums, experimenting and pushing the boundaries of what clothing and accessories can be used as a blank canvas. We have a passion for creating unique Anime & Japanese inspired products that you won't find anywhere else.

Above all else, Imouri is a lifestyle, a community, so don't be afraid to connect with us.
