Four years ago, when I was just learning to sew, I found the cutest pink polka-dot fabric and decided to teach myself how to make a bustier dress. I fumbled through boning and shaping, learned so much from the mistakes, and fell in love with the process. Years later I had so much fun shooting that original dress in a studio — seeing my beginner piece under the lights felt like a full-circle moment.

What started as a selkie dupe dress ended up as my own when I swapped out the bodice like selkie's for my own self drafted bodice I had on hand. It now remains one of my favorite dresses I've made, using an adorable bedsheet set (there are no rules) and made for my birthday. It is modeled off in this photo by the lovely Kyla

So I made a post on Threads, which I normally get very little to no activity. I thought I’d shoot my shot and put something out there. The next morning I woke up to a ton of responses. And then fixed it to potentially aim more towards cottagecore as opposed to the fantasy and cosplay content creators that happen to find my post. And ended up getting even more responses on that.😲

My hopes and dreams are in being able to launch my brand this year. And on top of that, I’m gonna need people who can represent it.

I truly am amazed and thankful that my designs have spread their way to more people. I’m not sure how long it’s gonna take me to go through all of these comments and see who fits with my vibe. But I’m super thankful that a lot of people find my dresses in my work as something they would want to wear. I’m pretty picky on what vibe I align with, but I know the right people will be out there.

So thank you to everyone who has expressed interest. I have not even been able to read all comments yet. I haven’t even been able to look through half of these profiles of those of you interested. Thank you for your patience as I take time to read them. It’s gonna be an amazing year🥰.

If you want to stay updated for when I launch, be sure to go check on my website www.stephanieharford.com and sign up in the email form.

Good things are coming. 🙌🏻🙌🏻✨

Who doesn't love a good twirly dress?? When I designed this piece, I knew I wanted it to have a gathered waist and a skirt made to TWIRL! Using a full circle skirt and a ruffled tier, it's the perfect dress to be your main character self!

Would you wear this dress? 🥰 Tag your cottagecore girlies!

I made this dress for my birthday a few years ago and I’m planning to launch it as a one of my available designs in the near future when I open my shop. Modeled by Ky in Bridget Cline’s gorgeous studio, it’s my favorite kind of floral—constructed from a brand new set of bedsheets for a soft, vintage bloom and built on a self-drafted bodice. Originally inspired by Selkie dresses for a YouTube video, it grew into something uniquely mine: a corseted top with a lace-up back for a romantic, tailored finish. I love floral on blush prints and will find them however I can to make beautiful dresses!
I hope you like it!

Last week I shared the full process of buying and receiving an industrial sewing machine, from unboxing to assembling to testing out the machine. 🤩
You can join me on the entire process, especially if you’re considering getting one. You could see the reality of receiving one and decide whether you want to assemble it yourself or hire someone. So if you’re considering getting an industrial sewing machine, but you’re not really sure, allow me to be your guinea pig. Spoiler alert: I’m in love. 😍
