This is my last year as an active creator/seller.
I'm old and ready for the next page of life.

And the Bandon Cranberry Festival, September 12 & 13, 2026.

I will continue to show at the American Legion Market on Saturdays while in town. We will be back on Saturday, May 30th unless the universe says elsewise.

Holy moly! I'm sure that some of you have given up on seeing Dye Happy this year. It has been a busy year between travel & family with another break in May as well. This will be my last year at markets. Hubby is tired of the grind and travel is on the horizon.

I will not be taking ANY requests. Stock available is what I have and will be selling. Thank you for your support and friendship these past years. It means a lot.

PS. Picture is of old item, sold awhile ago.

Super cool.

Super cool.

In 1504, the German knight Götz von Berlichingen lost his right hand when a cannon blast forced his sword back into his arm during the War of the Landshut Succession.

Instead of retiring from battle, he replaced it with iron.

But this was not a simple hook or peg. What he received was one of the most sophisticated prosthetic devices of the Renaissance. The iron hand contained individually articulated fingers with multiple joints, small internal springs, and ratchet-style locks that allowed each finger to snap into place.

This design allowed the prosthetic to shift between powerful and delicate grips. It was strong enough to hold a sword in battle and precise enough to hold a quill and write.

More than 500 years later, the device still survives and is preserved at Jagsthausen Castle.
