A little something for the back-to-school backpacks.

If you are getting the kids ready for the new school year here in Granville, you already know the supply list is just the starting point. Pencils tend to disappear by October, so we stocked up on our classic Granville General Store pencils for desks, pencil cases, and kitchen drawers.

There's a version of this shop that exists only in afternoon light — when the sun comes in low through the window and catches the wood just right, and for a minute the whole place looks like it hasn't changed in eighty years. It hasn't, really. Not in the ways that matter.

When we found this wooden shelf, it fit the space so perfectly that it felt like it had been waiting for us. We wanted it to look like it had always been leaning against this dark wall. From there, we just added what belonged — old tins, a vintage sunflower print, and small-batch goods that didn't exist yet when this building was first stocked with something else entirely.

That's the thing about a general store. It's never really finished. It just keeps holding whatever the town needs at the time, and somehow it all looks like it was always meant to be there.
