Have you ever felt the wind just ripped from your sails, and hard to navigate back on course? I felt like I just came out of a hurricane some days and lost at sea. Our daughter was diagnosed with type one diabetes a couple months before COVID hit. We relied on support from church, family and friends to get us through those first couple of months. And then that support just got pulled out from under us when COVID steam rolled in. Sugar Beads taking off was a huge highlight of last year and I’m so thankful for the connections I made, the sweet messages shared and having the opportunity to make pretty pieces of jewelry for even prettier people! I’ve learned so much through this little stringing beads business, but most of all is that a bunch of messy pieces can turn into something so beautiful! ✨

On this day in 1922 the life saving drug, insulin, was injected into the first human patient. It seems unfair that this sweet girl uses the same drug that was used 99 years ago to treat the same life altering disease. I am so beyond thankful for the researchers, scientists & doctors that work so hard for a cure. But we have so far to go.

We have taken the past couple weeks off to enjoy the holidays & soaking in all the snuggles. But I am reminded, our purpose behind Sugar Beads is to raise awareness and educate but also give back to allow funding for those researchers, scientists & doctors to continue working towards a cure. Let’s get to work! 👏
