We want to thank members of the Greenville Quilters Guild for participating in our Celebration of the Trades and Skills of the 1800s. They did a great job of demonstrating quilting in our chapel. It's not too late to learn how to spin, weave, knit, crochet, felt, etc.

Take a workshop and learn to weave on a bow loom or peg loom; make a spindle, knit a shawl or crochet broomstick lace.....

I will be weaving the shawl and would love for you to come visit our entire group at the CSS Neuse Historical Museum and Interpretive Center in Kinston.

North Carolina has been known for textiles, from its cotton, Alamance plaids, and modern synthetic (Dupont). In the past ladies would gather to quilt, knitting or spin, these gatherings were known as bees. Present day fiber festivals across the world, do a similar activity in holding sheep to shawl....
