“I almost didn’t put it on this morning.

My husband has been battling health issues for the past six months, and some days, the weight of the uncertainty just feels heavier than others. You know those mornings where you wake up and your heart already feels tired before your feet even hit the floor? That was today.

I was getting ready, feeling completely overwhelmed by the road ahead, when I reached into my closet and pulled out this yellow cap. I’d bought it a few weeks back simply because I loved the warm color, but as I adjusted the brim, my thumb brushed against the subtle white lettering stitched on the side: Matthew 17:20.

‘𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒅, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏, ‘𝑴𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆,’ 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆.’

I stood there in front of the mirror and just took a deep breath.

It was such a simple, quiet reminder that I don't need to have all the answers, and I don't need to carry the whole world on my shoulders today. I just need a little bit of faith—even as small as a mustard seed—to take the very next step.

I wore the hat all day running errands. At the grocery store, a complete stranger stopped me in the aisle, smiled warmly, and said, ‘I really needed to read that verse today. Thank you.’

We ended up talking for ten minutes right there in the middle of aisle 4, sharing a moment of encouragement that neither of us knew we needed.

Sometimes, the smallest reminders make the biggest difference. You never know who might need a little extra hope today—including yourself.”
