Therefore, the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore He exalts Himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of Justice, blessed are those who wait for Him. ~ Isaiah 30:18
Consider this: We often get frustrated at the still small voice. We ask the LORD "Why don't You just shout Your directions?!" We want to know why He doesn't just give us a checklist we can follow. But have we ever considered that it is because He looks for any way He can possibly show us mercy and grace?
Could it be that His still small voice is not meant to be a source of frustration; but instead, a protection?
How many times have we heard that still small voice and just didn't feel like following it? As a whisper, God can excuse it because it is just pointing us in the right direction. But, if He spoke to us louder - if He made His voice audible - then, guiding becomes instruction. And our God is a God of Justice. So, with that instruction, there must be consequences if we choose disobedience.
His still small voice is one of the greatest mercies and protections He can show us. For He looks for excuses to show us mercy. And if we are merely slow to follow guidance, we don't have to suffer the consequences of rebellion.
