Our client Allison requested us to lengthen her hem front by using the train. The original bottom had no beads in the lower 1 1/2” so once the back was sewn to the front then the beading began. We used beads from the new back hem area to fill in the space between the extension area. Turned out great, the seam is barely noticeable. Great solution for a gown that was 4” too short.

Switching up the space (again). I raised my children here and now my daughter Ivy is raising her children here which means we needed to make our back room a play area again. We still have our back fitting room for brides and families and clients with schedule appointments, but we only have one smaller fitting room out front for those to try on orders ready for pick up and walk ins. We moved our work rack out front with the pickup rack to add a larger play space/nap area and we also moved two sewing machines out of that room as well. Things look a little different when you come in but hopefully the new arrangement will allow for both business and family to grow.

It’s bridal season already! We have 2-3 bridal gowns booked every day of the week, about 12-14 every week and over 50 every month. We only have 2 spots left in April, handful in May and We have brides pre booking into June, July, August and September. If you or someone you know is getting married do not wait to book, call your seamstress in advance, and don’t get mad that we are already booked and referring friends. It’s not just me… every seamstress I know works this way. If you don’t want to wait, we charge double to skip the line and I’m then working on Sunday’s . The point is, we don’t want to store dresses for weeks or months, we want a smooth, steady flow coming in and going out with a little wiggle room. Book in advance, doesn’t have to be with me, just book!

For those of you who know my daughter Ivy, It’s a girl! She will be on maternity leave for a couple months and will be back to work for Prom season.

Daughter’s dressing or going away gown created from mother’s gown. For all of those gal’s who think mom’s dress is too dated and too much, the fabric is still good. For those looking really close, you might see where the lace was removed. The bride had us cut off the lace at the hem, removing the entire top and add spaghetti straps, remove all bodice lace appliqué , train was cut away, but the back bow was saved. Huge transformation.

Today a client brought me her “old” bridal gown and would like us to create a short skirt and crop top she can wear everyday or special occasions without being a”wedding gown “. I’m so excited for this project as she gave me free license on the top design! I’ll get some before and after pictures to share.
