Here is our handmade cotton piece with a matching bow, a lightweight shirt with a matching bow for spring and summer. Our Lilly didn't mind taking pictures while having peaceful moments at home, she would just sit there and let us taking pictures, a true sweetheart who also lived to play ball outside and walk a lot. We were inspired by the warm weather in our lifestyle in New Jersey, times when we were taking Lilly to participate in fundraising events to help pups in need and enjoy ourselves at the same time. This picture is from 2016. The handmade dress shirt was designed by Lilly's mom but handcrafted by Meire, who was running a grooming business at the time. We were coordinating the production of outfits in our free time and out of our love for animals.

On July 29 early morning, 2024, our 20-year-old daughter and angel passed away peacefully in her mother’s arms.
She became weak overnight and wasn’t able to walk. We were holding her with her blankets, and she would do little barks, and we kept wondering what she wanted, but she was weak.
As the night went on, she was breathing but very weak; Iara and I kept telling her we would be ok, that she could fly high with the angels and with all of her friends and family in heaven, and that we would always be together as a family. We kept holding her and praying until around 7 in the morning; the power went off out of the blue but came back right after; we believe that was Lilly announcing her departure from her body.
Afterward, we brought her to her veterinarian with her blankets to make arrangements. We prayed much with her, and they were kind, as always.
Lilly arrived here in 2005 from Brazil from a household whose lady had a clutter issue and was breeding animals; my mother-in-law found her and brought her to New Jersey.
With Facebook, we connected her with many friends from all over the world. Her mom created a dog clothing line, Lilly Dogs' Fashion, to convey that animals are family, not pets, not companions.
They are forever. They are little children, and they flourish once we love them as part of our family. Lilly didn’t die; love doesn’t die; she will be forever with us.
Iara and I have been married for over 24 years; when Lilly came along, it felt like we had become parents, which we did.
We are devastated but thankful that we were able to give her a good life. She gave us all happiness; it won’t be easy to be without her; it has been over 19 years of spoiling Lilly and Lilly spoiling us.
Her life was almost cut short in 2009 and 2013 due to food contamination; that is when we started feeding her plant-based with , giving us more memories and joy together.
Family and best friends don’t always come in the form of humans.
To the ones who knew Lilly, we remember you all and appreciate all the good times together and love.
Lilly is flying high now with G-d and others.
There is still much to say about our 19 years with Lilly; she has changed our lives forever. We gave her a good life, but when I look through endless photos and remember so many moments, I realize Lilly gave us a good life; all we did was try to pay her back. In Judaism, we believe that memory becomes a blessing that will live on forever in the lives she touched, her dad, and me. She taught us so much, gave us purpose, and will continue to guide us until the last day of our lives.

We will continue spreading the message that dogs are part of our families and that they are forever. Lilly's brother Sammy will promote family values and well-being among dogs and all animals. We will update this page with pieces that are available in the future.

Lilly is now 20 years old. She is blind and deaf but still the cutest girl inside and out, spreading sweetness to this world. Elderly dogs are precious, and they deserve it all. They need more naps, parking, kisses, and patience. Our furry family is forever

Lilly has been my teacher about all animals and humans, for nearly 19 years. She is now 20 years old, blind, and deaf, but she has been taking one day at a time as we all should.

We have aged together in a way, that we can't keep up with the same routine as we had, our vision started to decline at the same time, and we developed a need for better nutrition together as well.

Lilly has developed a sensorial memory, by knowing where she is, feeling the sun and the wind on her face, how we hold her, by smelling her furry and human family.
She barks and cries when she needs something, which makes me feel dizzy sometimes by changing diapers and going up and down the stairs several times through the night, but it is worth every second.

She developed a diva personality, but it is all thanks to how I raised her so it is all my “fault”, it has nothing to do with her breed or her species.
Cheers for one more day with this and to all of you who may need one day at a time.

❤️

With the best friend someone could ask for Mrs
Lilly not only changed my life but also helped me to come across a large number of organizations, animal shelters and rescues who helps pups to find forever homes.
I will be sharing some of the latest pups for adoption in my area on my stories and also at Lilly’s page and in the near future.
There are many of lovely furry family members out there looking for families.

Lilly will be turning 20 years old within months. She went blind nine months ago and has been deaf for a couple of years. But she is still the old little trooper, Lilly.
She has been receiving extra belly scratches and kisses. She wears diapers, has many blankets to make her feel safe, goes outside twice, loves car rides with her dad, and tolerates her siblings. Who got her back and loved her to the moon and back.

Lilly's plant-based lifestyle has definitely benefited her health and given us more years together, more holidays, more birthdays, more vacations, and more family time. But what makes the whole difference in Lilly's life is that we perceive her as a family member and not as a pet. We don't see her as a dog but as part of the family, not as a pet.
I take Lilly everywhere I go, If Lilly can't be included, we can't be included. Even at vegan gatherings that don't allow dogs, which sounds strange to me, or any other gathering, whoever knows me should know Lilly should be able to go.

I have no fun without her. I can't travel without her either. For the people who keep telling me to go there and here, understand that Lilly is my daughter, and she already has needs. I don't have anyone in the USA that I trust enough to leave her behind, and even if I did, she would freak out.

Some can be vegan-dislike and dogs and don't quite understand our bond. Lilly is not a pet, not an animal companion. She is my daughter, my best friend, whom I will have my back until the end for everything that she has done for me, for all the sparkles she added into my life, for changing the course of my paths, and for leading me to care more about all animals.

Elderly animals and humans should not be pitied; their challenges and long lives should be celebrated with gratitude every minute that goes by. Lilly‘s life gives her family extra goodness and smiles. We can’t help but keep loving her even more as she gets older.
