Among the wild things at Tupper Lake’s The Wild Center there is a lovely conscious fashion exhibit in the coolest laboratory room. The environment pays the price for fast fashion and this is a great reminder of how we can slow down, use less, makes things last longer, support those who make garments and find sustainable alternatives. Themis and Thread was born of a desire to offer folks safer solutions and I’m so passionate about the environmental expense we pass on. This exhibit was a breath of fresh air in a whole world of gentle and not so gentle winds of awareness 🙏

Out of the office for a midseason wellness week. No sewing, no fittings, no calls. I’ve been working at an unhealthy clip and am thrilled to clock out, get my (mental) health in check and tune into the rhythm of nature. See ya in a week 💋

Practicing my curtsey 🤠 I’m so very pleased you’re here and welcome you to my sweet lil sewing and fitting studio in 👋 I’ve been sewing wildly here for a couple months now - I moved in during peak wedding dress season like a lunatic! I’ve been working very hard chipping away at the gown tailoring, vintage redesigning and custom creations projects hanging on the rack next to me! While I am overjoyed to have so many amazing clients and to be in my new creative professional space I am also totally whooped! I’ve never been busier in my life! Thank you for all of the support! I’m truly honored to be able to serve so many amazing humans with the skills and care I love to share, but I will not be offering sewing services to new clients until the beginning of 2027. For over 100 years this Southern Tier biz has been the national gold standard in wedding gown cleaning & preservation. They use organic cleaning solutions and sustainable methods. They are wedding gown experts. They don’t work directly with customers for the most part but rather through seamstresses like me, and boutiques and other small businesses. You can bring me the dress and we can pack it up together or you can purchase a kit from me and ship it out yourself. Same with the return, it can come to my studio or go to your home (someone will have to sign for it!) No harsh dry cleaning chemicals, no worrying about whether or not they know how to care for delicate materials or if they’ll loose the dress (never a loss in over 100 years!) and you get to support not one but two local small businesses! Get up to 5 accessories cleaned and a pristine gown packaged and preserved for years to come, no yellowing or disintegrating! Clean only option and 7-10 day rush available as well. Custom table for sale, local pick up in Watkins Glen, NY, 70 inches long x 24 inches wide x 2 ft 11 inches tall. This table has been encircled with so much joy and creativity. It has supported so much art and experimentation. This table has displayed locally made gifts and was custom made by local furniture refurbisher and maker Distressed By Me Designs for HectorHandmade which I co-owned with my bestie from 2017-2024. It’s looking for a new home for $200, must pick up in Watkins Glen, NY. We had it made to hold our Bead Bar and it’s the perfect height for a standing work bench. It is beautiful and full of good energy! Snag a piece of history!

Meet Lilli! She’s Themis and Thread’s Studio Assistant Intern! Lilli’s a creative 16 year old whose going into the GST BOCES fashion program this fall. She’s excited to learn how to make clothes for herself and others and to meet new people. She’s been doing research, creating art, taking photos, organizing, tidying, prepping work for me and so much more in the studio with me! I’m loving having her here and getting some help myself while I get to help expose her to my angle of the industry!

These are the tools of my trade and together with my understanding of when to use which one offers you the tailoring expertise you deserve to prepare the most important garments you’ll wear in your life.
