254 placements. And it’s only September. 💙

When someone reaches out to Back on Track for help, finding an available treatment bed is only part of what happens.

A single placement can take 4–6 hours of phone calls, paperwork and coordination. Then there’s transportation, insurance costs, rehab fees and sometimes other immediate needs that have to be covered before that person can even walk through the doors of treatment.

On average, each placement costs Back on Track around $450.

And this year, we’ve already helped make 254 placements.

Those aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet.

They are 254 opportunities for recovery.
254 people who reached a point where they were ready to accept help.
254 times someone answered the phone and said, “Yes, we’re going to help you figure this out.”

A 2-month-old baby was among 163 missing children recovered during a massive five-day operation that stretched across Florida, throughout the United States and into countries around the world.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the results of “Operation Statewide Shield,” calling it the largest child recovery operation of its kind in state history.

The children ranged in age from just 2 months to 17 years old. Authorities said many had experienced abuse, neglect, exploitation or exposure to criminal activity, including human trafficking.

“Many of these kids have been victimized by those who prey on the most vulnerable,” Uthmeier said. “These children are now safe and receiving the care they deserve.”

The operation was unlike a traditional missing-person investigation in which authorities waited for leads to come in. Teams used real-time intelligence and field operations to proactively identify, track down and recover vulnerable children.

The effort was centered in seven regions of Florida, but the search extended beyond the state.

Authorities located children across the United States and its territories, including Alabama, California, Ohio, New York, North Carolina, Puerto Rico and Tennessee. The operation also reached into Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominica, Finland, Ghana, Guatemala, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Spain and Taiwan.

Multiple people were arrested during the operation.

Among them was a defendant wanted on three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor who also had a warrant for interference with child custody. Another person was arrested for lewd and lascivious battery involving a victim between 12 and 16 years old, while another was arrested in connection with a child custody case and for allegedly resisting officers.

Authorities say additional arrests are expected, and multiple investigations remain underway.

Once children were recovered, local law enforcement transported them to designated recovery hubs, where they could receive medical care and assistance from social workers, child welfare professionals, victim advocates and other specialists.

What a beautiful night of remembrance, hope, and community. 💜

Last night we gathered at Jackson Park to remember the lives we’ve lost to addiction, celebrate those walking in recovery, and remind those still fighting that recovery is possible.

We are incredibly thankful for everyone who made the evening possible — our speakers who courageously shared their stories, the families who came to honor their loved ones, our volunteers, community partners, vendors and organizations who set up tables, and everyone who simply showed up to stand with us.

From food and treats to resources, information and community support, every person who participated helped make the evening what it was. 💜

We shared stories. We made connections. We remembered those who should still be here. We celebrated recovery. And we ended the night together by candlelight. 🕯️

We will continue saying their names.
We will continue sharing their stories.
We will continue supporting recovery.
And we will continue fighting for those who are still here.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared, listened, remembered, and supported our mission.

Join us tonight at Jackson Park from 6–9 PM as we come together to remember those we’ve lost, celebrate those in recovery, and bring hope to those still fighting.

This evening is for everyone whose life has been touched by addiction — whether through your own recovery, someone you love, or someone you deeply miss.

Throughout the evening, we’ll have speakers sharing stories of loss, hope, and recovery, along with an open mic for anyone who would like to share their own story.

We’ll also have:
• Food options available
• Recovery resources & information
• Speakers & personal stories
• Opportunities to connect with others in our community
• A candlelight vigil to close the evening 🕯️

There is no shame in addiction, and there is hope in recovery. Come learn, listen, remember, support, or simply stand beside someone who needs to know they aren’t alone.
