🚩 Hills I Will Die On as an Optometrist Who Has Treated Thousands of Contact Lens Wearers 🚩
• Sleeping in your contact lenses is never worth the risk.
• If your contacts are bothering you, your eyes are trying to tell you something.
• Red eyes are not normal.
• Contact lenses are medical devices, not accessories.
• Topping off yesterday’s solution with today’s solution is not cleaning your contacts.
• Water and contact lenses should never mix. (Not even in the shower.)
• Buying contacts online doesn’t replace an annual contact lens exam.
• Seeing well doesn’t always mean your eyes are healthy.
• A corneal ulcer can happen to healthy people who “usually do everything right.”
• The patients who say, “I’ve been doing it this way for years,” are often the ones who end up with the worst complications
• If your lenses are designed to be changed daily, biweekly, or monthly, change them on schedule. Stretching them to save a few dollars can cost you much more in the long run.
The good news? Most contact lens complications are preventable with proper wear and routine eye exams. 👀
How many of these are you guilty of? 😅
