Our latest designer compliment goes to Paloma Blanca | Wedding Dresses!! Their gowns tend to always be well-constructed, but on this particular dress, the top part of the bodice and the bottom of the skirt are stitched together and the sewn vertically. So it’s one long side seam.

Now of course there are situations where this can’t be the case or its not the proper way to construct some particular designs but in this instance, it works beautifully for the design and makes alterations of the side seam (a common one) super streamlined.

Who among you all out there in internet land knows about the art of the zhuzh?!

So many of us use the word but how the heck to you spell it and is it a real term?! We had to take it to the dictionary...

“Zhuzh” means to make something more attractive or interesting by adjusting or adding to it. The term is often used in contexts like styling hair or enhancing an outfit.

There are even multiple acceptable spellings like jeuje, or zhoosh.

How would you spell it? Just know that any way you choose, we get it...

Listen, nearlyweds: I love you, but we need to talk about your dress timeline...

Far too many of you brides are finding your dream dress and then waiting in until it’s delivered before reaching out to a seamstress. With sewing pros and bridal alterations specialists being a rare breed these days, we need you to start the communication early. High-quality, master-level bridal tailoring is a fine art, and their calendar spots for the peak wedding season fill up fast. (Bridal retailers, you can assist in advising brides and nearlyweds too!)

Each seamstress is different and while most will begin the actual fittings about 8-10 weeks before your wedding day, many of us are holding spaces for people on the calendar months to years in advance.

If you want a flawless fit without the stress of a last-minute scramble (or the nightmare of rush fees), knowledge is power! Find out how your local specialist does their calendar and find out EARLY.

Alright, let’s clear the air. I know I’ve led you all to believe that I am an absolute darts hater, and, well... I might be, but not alllllll the time. 🤫

There are definitely scenarios where darts are necessary or the better fashion choice for sure! The real issue? Sh*tty, lazy darts in stupid places and/or sewn poorly. Fast fashion and factory settings blow through designs to save time and money. The work isn’t always checked or even if it is, the standards can be really low. This is where you get weird seam lines and the dreaded “pointy boob” effect on a wedding gown.

Vintage is one place that you’ll often find beautiful dart construction with thoughtful design- need proof, just check out my beautiful dress from . You can post the difference right away- beautifully tapered and smooth like butter 🧈! That’s what happens when a garment is sewn with care, intention, and an eye for proper bust shape.

So, I’m not a dart hater, I’m just a “sh*tty-dart” hater. 😉

If the foundation is shaky, the whole house falls down. Structure matters, people!

We are officially kicking off our new series, Belts and Bras, where we expose the good, the bad, and the literal strapless nightmares of the bridal undergarment world.

Part 1 is all about bra styles. Before you drop $100 on a shapewear piece you’ll hate wearing all day, watch this.

Have a specific bra question for your dress? Drop it in the comments and we’ll answer it in an upcoming episode! 🧵

Can everyone just stop with the darts?! We’re breaking down exactly why "pointy b***s" are the enemy of a high-end bridal fit. When done in super high-end garments or vintage, darts can have a place...But when rushed in a factory setting, they can ruin the sleek, smooth look you’re paying for. This gorgeous gown started with zero structure and those ill-fitting bust darts.

Instead of just trying to alter them, we chose the nuclear option: we took the bodice apart, cut new pieces and reconstructed it with proper princess seams (and boning) using scrap fabric. The result? A smooth, structured fit that actually honors our bride's body and perfectly shapes her bust.

Are you pro-dart for bridal?
