HookNHide

HookNHide A passion for the outdoors and an innate appreciation for natural beauty and handmade art is what inspired HooknHide founder, Thomas Mauldin. Hook N Hide, Inc.

is a small belt buckle company located in Charleston, SC. It was created by Tom Mauldin, an avid outdoorsman and artist. Born in Louisiana and raised in South Carolina, Tom grew up hunting and fishing in the great outdoors of the Southeast. It was through his passion for fishing, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of the Southern Coasts that inspired the creation of HookNHide, LLC. in 2008

. Designed by Tom, each belt buckle is handcrafted, making it a unique and wearable piece of art. The buckles are made of “tumbaga”, a non-specific mixture of different metals, including brass, copper, gold and pewter. The blending of these metals gives the buckles a rustic and handsome patina that increases over time.

The American alligator is a large crocodilian reptile native to the Southeastern United States and a small section of northeastern Mexico. These reptiles inhabit subtropical and tropical freshwater wetlands, such as marshes and cypress swamps, from southern Texas to North Carolina. They play an important role as eco-engineers in wetland ecosystems by creating alligator holes that provide both wet and dry habitats for other organisms.

The horse (Equus ferus caballus) is revered around the world as one of the most loved animals.

Horse breeds are loosely divided into three categories based on their general temperament- hot bloods, cold bloods, and warm bloods. A horse with special genetics, spirit, and speed is known as a “hot blood” horse. Opposite are “cold bloods,” also known as draft horses or ponies, which are suitable for slow, and often heavy workloads. Lastly, the mix of these two breeds is known as “warm bloods” through crossbreeding, which is specific for riding purposes. There are more than 300 breeds of horse in the world today, developed for many different uses.

Folks around the world have requested these pieces from HookNHide for some time. This design commemorates the love of this animal and those who have a true love and passion for riding, ranching, rodeo, fox hunting, racing, and a special companionship with this magnificent animal.
