Before the day ends, our family would like to commemorate .

It did not escape us that we spent almost 24 hours in the hospital 2 days ago bc of the fear that Aurora was possibly having another stroke due to her Moyamoya. The timing seemed unbelievable.
However, the staff Duke Health ED saw the urgency in our arrival along with her diagnosis and medical history and surprisingly took to task very quickly. She had an EKG in mins. The rest of the visit was slow and painful, but Aurora's situation was looked upon with seriousness. They were very thorough. . .CT scan, bloodwork, IV put in bc they anticipated keeping her overnight.
The decision was made by the doc on the floor, the neurologist, and neurosurgeon that she didn't need to stay to wait to get on the schedule for an MRA & an MRI. It was decided that she was in good shape and could come back for those when scheduled.
Moyamoya is a lifetime condition in this system of things. However, knowing, seeing & acting on the signs as soon as possible is lifesaving.
