What would a Sicilian immigrant wear in the early 1900's?

I Know This Much Is True is a 2020 HBO limited drama series starring Mark Ruffalo in a dual role as identical twin brothers, Dominick and Thomas Birdsey, based on Wally Lamb's novel. The six-episode series follows the parallel lives of the twins, exploring themes of betrayal, sacrifice, and forgiveness in 20th-century America, with Ruffalo earning critical acclaim and awards for his performance.

Working with the amazingly talented we were commissioned to build this period specific suit for who played Domenico Onofrio Tempesta: Thomas's and Dominick's grandfather from Sicily. Marcello had previously won best actor at and the European Film Awards, both in 2018.

I felt like I was literally dressing a family member when I fit Marcello. We are about the same size and I saw likenesses of my Italian relatives in his face. He fit the role and the wardrobe perfectly.

In late 2025 we were invited to design an outfit themed around “Elegance and the Winter Olympics" for an international tailoring competition in Milan.

Using cloth, we imagined an Olympic ensemble for the ages. Using the chevron and the finest cashmere, wool, silk, and velvet as design pillars, we combined traditional, modern, and avant garde elements from boating blazers, to Greek tunics, to snowboarding pants. We melded bespoke craftsmanship with ready-to-wear finishing to blur the lines between spectator of the games and participant in them.

This is a tailor’s take on designing for while also designing for the proud sporting enthusiast that appreciates the exertion for excellence of true champions.
