City Discount House opened it's doors on February 25, 1969 during a severe snow storm. 50 years ago, my parents Sam and Clair started a family retail business at 207 Washington St. in Hoboken. Having been in the Restaurant business at 3 locations in town, namely The Belvedere, this was a leap of faith. A lot happens in 50 years and a lot stays the same. Today we are a Hoboken Small Business success story, still going strong February 25, 2019. To those who voiced predictions, opening in a snow storm is a bad omen, we were on the wrong side of the street, I give you 2 years, I Thank You Sometimes negativity can be inspiring. As we the Prezioso, Ferrante and Castellano Families celebrate our 50 year Anniversary, we extend our sincerest expression of appreciation to our Hoboken Families for their continued support over these 50 years.
