On September 22, 2006, 16-year-old Cassie Jo Stoddart was housesitting for her aunt and uncle in Pocatello, Idaho, when she invited her boyfriend over to keep her company. What seemed like a normal night turned into a real-life horror movie. Two of her classmates, Brian Draper and Torey Adamcik, who had briefly stopped by the house earlier, returned later wearing dark clothing and masks. They cut the power to the house and began stalking Cassie like villains in a slasher film.
When Cassie’s boyfriend left for the night, the attackers stayed hidden in the basement, waiting. They eventually emerged and brutally stabbed Cassie more than 30 times, leaving her to die alone. What shocked investigators was the discovery of a videotape made by the killers before and after the murder, where they talked about their plans and bragged about wanting to commit a real-life version of the movie Scream. Both teens were sentenced to life in prison without parole, their chilling videotaped confessions forever linked to the crime.
