Katrina graduated from the Fashion Design and Merchandising program at the University of Hawai’i and her mission is to educate consumers on the effects the fashion industry has on our environment. The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it! Many amazing friends have graced me with their prescience and most of them I am still in touch with to this day. I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my most dearest friends, Nicole, because today is her birthday!!!

If you knew me in college you knew Nicole. We met at the University of Hawaii, Manoa in an intro to fashion design class and became inseparable! We scheduled all of our classes together, car pooled to campus every day together, went home and did our homework together, and partied every night together!

We share some of my favorite memories and she definitely made my twenties the best years of my life!!!

Cheers to you Nicole! May this be your best year yet and all of your wishes come true. I love you more than words can say. Hau Oli La Hanau 💝

Working with a store like .of.aloha that sells only products Made in Hawaii takes me back to my roots. Many years ago I was a founding member of a local non-profit called the Hawaii Fashion Incubator, or HIFI. One of my favorite memories was coordinating two green style events on the outer islands of Kauai and Big Island. One of our missions was to bridge the gap between the islands to support all of our local designers. I met so many amazing people during that time and it shaped the person I am today!

When I was reminiscing through my wedding photos yesterday I came across this gem!!! I made the flower girl dresses for my sustainable wedding out of vintage scarves for a tropical vibe. They turned out so fun and adorable, especially on these little cuties who are all grown up now. Thirteen years later and I am finally launching a kid’s line!
