NOTHING GIVEN, NOTHING GAINED
The full collection.
Twenty years, full release.
Every piece carries the moʻo. Guardian of the water, keeper of the line. It is coiled into the crest, doubled in the icon, broken into gridded patterns, ridged into the weave of the cloth, because a moʻo never moves straight. It runs across all of it, the Amble snapback and wind jacket, the Articulation top, the Hands Feed polo and shorts, the Welo jersey, the Electromagnetism tee, the tote. A whole palette runs beneath, and one shade we need to name out loud.
Hāliʻa. Remembrance.
September 5th. My Pop and his twin brother were born on this day in 1949. “Hala i ke ala koʻiʻula a Kāne.” Both have gone on the sacred red trail of Kāne, but moʻokūʻauhau does not end with the physical. What continues is the name, and a name only earns its place in the line by how it was carried. His sits just before mine, still moving, as mine sits above my keiki. Everything I know about giving before you gain, he gave me first. Nothing was easy, and since this is the only path I have known, I might argue it was only ever meant to be overcome. And still, I would carry it again.
Nothing given, nothing gained. The path is never straight.
