A CALL TO NOMINATE: The Monks Walking for Peace

Since October 26th, 2025, twenty Buddhist monks and a dog have been walking from Texas to Washington DC—not for themselves, but for all of us.
They saw what’s happened to us: how we’ve made peace with cruelty, how we’ve learned to look away, how we’ve let the hardness of these times harden us too. They saw the quiet tragedy unfolding—how we’ve normalized the unthinkable, how we’ve gone silent in the face of suffering, how we’ve convinced ourselves that one person’s kindness can’t possibly make a difference.

So they began walking.

No fanfare. No guarantee anyone would join them. One monk even lost his leg on this journey—and still, they walk.

What started as 20 strangers armed with flowers and handcrafted peace bracelets has become something the world is watching. People are spilling into the streets just to walk a few miles with them, to connects themselves to the mission, to remember what compassion looks like in motion.

To witness strangers choosing love in perilous times.

This is more than a walk. This is a historic act of faith in humanity when faith feels hard.

They deserve the Nobel Peace Prize because they didn’t wait for permission to heal what’s breaking. They simply started walking—choosing to awaken the kindness we thought we’d lost.
