On October 24th, 2025, at approximately 9:40 PM, Deputies responded to a report of a fatal collision on Lovers Lane near Romeo Drive. Upon arrival, deputies determined that a 77-year-old male victim was pronounced deceased.

The Christian County Sheriff's Office received results today from the Kentucky State Police Crime Laboratory that indicated the driver of an involved vehicle, Douglas Jones, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, had a blood alcohol content approximately three times the legal limit at the time of the collision.

Based on these findings, Detectives immediately obtained a warrant for Jones' arrest. Jones was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail. He is charged with Murder and Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.

Christian County, let’s talk about something simple that could save lives.

🚔 Law Enforcement Officers
🚒 Firefighters & EMS
🚛 Tow Trucks & Big Rigs
🚗 Families with a broken-down vehicle

No matter who they are, someone loves them. When you see ANYONE in the emergency lane on our 4-lane roads, move over. If you can’t safely switch lanes, slow down.

Your caution and courtesy make a difference. Let’s keep each other safe out there.

Sunday Update: 6:15 pm

That ice is getting heavy.
According to units on patrol, trees are beginning to fall, particularly in the north end of the county.
This can cause road closures, downed power lines and other dangerous travel conditions.
If you can, the best thing to do is head on home for the night.

The icy road conditions in the morning hours are still expected.
If you can, stay home.

But if you must travel:

1. Drive slow. Speed is definitely NOT your friend in this mess.

2. Give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going.

3. PAY ATTENTION! You may be driving as safe as possible but not everyone has the same road awareness as you.

4. Make sure your phone is charged and you have adequate supplies in your vehicle. This can include water, blankets, snacks and jumper cables, just in case you get stranded.

5. Don’t follow other vehicles too closely. Give plenty of space between you and your fellow drivers.

Above all, please practice extreme caution.

Oh, and be careful walking on that front porch too. Don’t let that Ring camera catch you “slippin’”…🧊

They're back. We are getting reports of scam callers targeting citizens over "missing jury duty".

As a reminder, the Christian County Sheriff's Office will not call you on the phone and demand payment for legal issues.
Additionally, we as a GOVERNMENT AGENCY do not use Zello, Cash App, Venmo, gift cards or any third party "app" to collect ANY government fees.

This is a problem that occurs a few times a year, and we want to make sure our citizens are well informed enough to not become of victim of this tired tactic used by people who try to swindle others out of their money.

Have questions? Feel free to contact us or your local law enforcement agency if you are contacted by someone and are unsure if it is legitimate.
