Dog on the run, PLEASE read carefully, do NOT call or try to chase in any way as this will cause him to keep running and not settle down in one area which is critical right now
This handsome shepherd boy has been on the run around Arkport/Hornell since at least mid November. He recently shifted more towards Canisteo. He is very fearful of any sort of human interaction (not dangerous as some folks have asked, he will just keep running which is what we can't have in order to get him to safety) and unfortunately will continue to run/put himself in harms way unless he is humanely trapped. The local shelter has been working on this but needs your help to get him to settle in one safe area. Here's how :
🛑 DO NOT attempt to chase or call to him in any way. This will drive him further away from any areas he feels safe in where a trap could be placed.
🛑DO NOT feed him, and if you feed feral cats or have any type of compost in the area please try to limit what you put out. He needs to have only one feeding station near the trap.
🛑 PLEASE DO pin sightings on this map. You will need to sign in to a Google account to pin and you may need to copy paste the link. Even if there is already a pin somewhere, add another along with as many details as you can recall including time of day, if he was moving, resting, etc. This will be extremely helpful information in getting him to safety!
