For Mary Jo Marcy, working with clay is more than a craft—it’s a personal form of expression. She loves the way clay can be shaped and transformed, allowing her to bring her imagination to life in endless ways.
Among her favorite creations are pieces made using real leaves. One in particular—a wild Angelica leaf—has become a signature in her work. With its shape resembling a maple or grape leaf, it adds a natural elegance to her clay pieces. A favorite sculpture of hers features a horse’s head, its flowing mane adorned with these delicate leaves—blending the beauty of nature with the spirit of the animal.
Mary Jo enjoys being part of the makers market community, where creativity in all its forms is celebrated. “Different people like different things,” she says. “There’s always something that catches someone’s eye.” Whether it’s artwork, antiques, or handmade treasures, she loves seeing people connect with the pieces she creates.
