Costuming Hairspray at The Art Park Players has been such an honor! To be trusted to deliver on the artistic vision of director@bakerrama Ryan Baker & Assistant Director Bethany Morrison and to collaborate with them made me feel so inspired and lucky 🍀 .

Hairspray is more than a musical to me. It is a message that will never stop needing to be heard. And the amazing music, funny jokes and fantastic dancing is like a cotton candy wrapper around that message.

I wanted the costumes to help share that message and to be more than just beautiful. And I would not have been able to accomplish that without the help of Colleen Grady and Logan Keslar 🙌🏽 I am so thankful and grateful to you both 💜💜💜

I also want to thank the amazing Nancy Brewer Shanks , Jennifer McLaughlin and abby!! Wanda for their sewing skills and alllll those alterations they did.

These pics are just the beginning! I can’t wait to share more of the behind the scenes!

This was the hardest video I’ve ever had to make. But I’ve built this community on honesty, trust, and love. That’s what you all have given me and what I want to give you in this moment. ⁣

This experience has tested every ounce of my perseverance, but I won’t let it stop me. I don’t know why this has happened or what caused it. I did not fall or have a mechanical injury, but while the doctors and I try to answer that the only thing I can do is accept the present and make the best of it.⁣

Your girl is nothing if not relentless (que photo. I’ll drop it in the comments.). ⁣

Speaking of AGT, some of you may know, but not all of you, that I had a similar life-altering experience in 2017, right before I went on the show. After experiencing terrible, unexplained symptoms, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The diagnosis and learning how to manage the effects of the disease were incredibly difficult, but I did not let it stop me from pursuing my dreams then. And this wheelchair I’m in is not going to stop me now. ⁣

I know you will have questions. I’m happy to answer as much as I can. For me, could you ask here? I’d rather answer online than in person when I see you at a show. It’s all still very emotional, and it’s easier to explain with some space.⁣

I would love to see all of you at my upcoming shows with Friends of the Art Park Players , Lone Star Lyric Theater Festival , and The Bayou Theatre Company. I’ll drop more details in the comments for each show.⁣

A client’s daughter was doing competitive ballroom dance and she needed changes made to a dress and she shipped this to me. I created this custom makeshift dress form in her size so that I could completely take the gown apart and make all of the requested changes and alterations. I even had to redo the stoning. It was the first time work on an item for someone I had never met. New Goal Unlocked! What do you think???
