We wanted to give The Crunchy Pickle Howell a proper shoutout with a beautifully staged, well-manicured photo of our lunch.

Unfortunately, we ate it.

So instead, please enjoy this photo of what’s left and take our word for it: the sandwich was killer, and the dill pickle dip is dangerously good.

Apparently food photography requires slightly more patience than we possess.

If you haven’t listened to The Headless yet, here’s the best way I can describe them:

Heavy, weird, melodic, slightly unhinged, and somehow catchy as hell. Like 90s alternative metal got into a bar fight with modern heavy rock and they decided to start a band afterward.

More importantly, they’re good dudes making genuinely great music — and they’re friends of ours.

Give The Headless a listen. Then act like you knew about them before everyone else did.

We can’t thank everyone enough who came out to celebrate the soft opening of 5IVEHOLE with us this weekend.

Even if we weren’t 100% ready, it felt like the perfect way to finally open the doors and share what we’ve been working toward. Seeing the shop full of friends, family, longtime customers and so many new faces made all the late nights getting here worth it.

And a huge thank you and a lot of love to Matt Pfeffer of 614 Hockey. Matt came up and spent the weekend helping us, supporting us and just being there for whatever we needed. Having people like that in our corner means more than I can put into words.

Thank you to Sound Cocktail | Detroit DJ and Sound Support for setting the vibe, and to everyone who stopped in, grabbed some gear, hung out and helped us break in the new space.

There’s still plenty we want to finish, change and add. This place is going to keep evolving, and honestly, that’s part of what makes it exciting.

Thank you, Howell. We’re just getting started!

Tomorrow is a pretty big day for us.

We’re celebrating our soft opening during MelonFest, and we figured if we’re finally opening the doors, we might as well make a night out of it.

Sound Cocktail | Detroit DJ and Sound Support will be at the shop from 6–9PM spinning music while MelonFest is going on downtown.

It’s been a long road getting this space together, and we’re really excited to finally have people come in, hang out, see what we’ve been working on and experience what we want 5IVEHOLE to be.

If you’re downtown tomorrow, come spend some time with us. No big sales pitch. No cover. Just music, the new shop and hopefully a lot of familiar faces.
