📖 Book club time! We’re reading Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke for our July 23rd meeting — and here’s your spoiler-free reading schedule to keep you on track!
📅 WEEK 1 · June 16–22
📌 Part One: “The Perfect Life”
Meet Natalie Heller Mills — tradwife influencer, mother of five, and architect of a picture-perfect pioneer brand. This section establishes the curated world of Yesteryear Ranch: the rustic aesthetic, the devoted followers, and all the behind-the-scenes machinery holding it together. Pay attention to what Natalie tells you about herself. She’s a very confident narrator.
📅 WEEK 2 · June 23–29
📌 Part Two (Chapters 1–20): “Where Am I?”
Natalie wakes up somewhere that looks like her ranch — but nothing is right. No appliances. No followers. No Shannon. She doesn’t recognize the children or the man she’s apparently married to. Is this a prank? A reality show? A divine test? This is where the book kicks into high gear.
📅 WEEK 3 · June 30–July 13
📌 Part Two (Chapters 21–57): “Surviving”
This is the big middle — Natalie settles into a brutal routine, nurses her injured foot, starts to believe she may be pregnant, and begins preparing a desperate escape plan before winter. The dual timeline deepens here, weaving her Harvard past against her increasingly complicated present. The trailer marked “MANOSPHERE” appears. You’ll have thoughts.
📅 WEEK 4 · July 14–22
📌 Part Three + Epilogue: “The Reckoning”
The reveal. An adult Clementine. A prison sentence. And Mary’s memoir. Read slowly — this section reframes everything. Come to our meeting on July 23rd ready to talk about the ending, the twist, and whether you saw it coming!
Several people have told me this would be a great book to listen to as well, I’ll be listening on Spotify, but it’s available from many libraries and all major retailers in either format👍
Also many of you have asked about joining us from far away, we tried Zoom once and that didn’t go great 🫠 technology can be a real pain sometimes, but we’re going to give it another try. I’ll update this post with the Zoom link when I get that set up 👍
