To introduce or re-introduce myself:
I am a designer/ dressmaker based in central Indiana. I have a brick and mortar studio in midtown Indianapolis in the Milky Way Complex. It's small and cozy, adorably decorated in a mash up of art deco and midcentury furnishings; I call it my doctor's office because it exists mainly for me to meet with and have fittings with clients by appointment only. I do all of my hands on patterning, alterations, draping, sewing, etc. in my home studio, which is less glamorous (although still midcentury mind you - my heart and soul) and a wee bit more chaotic, lol.
What do I do? I am a fashion designer and dressmaker. I collaborate with clients to create a garment uniquely for them - bridal gowns, costume, or something just for the heck of it. I do ALOT of alterations too, which strangely I like to do! The focus for alterations is on bridal, formal, prom, and high end designer. But I happily do streetwear alterations as well, women's wear and men's wear. My constant caveat here is that I don't alter jeans or dress shirts or do extreme mending (you just need to buy new ones of all those! lol).
I do heirloom reconstruction and restoration. Some of my favorite projects are re-styling your grandmother or mother's bridal gown into something new, or respectfully keeping the style and making it strong and wearable for you. I take the lace from the heirloom garments and use them for your veil. I make hats and tiaras too.
