Well I don’t post here often but I thought I needed to share a negative experience that just happened at Camp Buckwood with one of the owners. I guess I should start the story a little earlier though. Jose Ponce Granados and I started a small business this year making leather items mostly catering to our gay family and friends and when it went well we decided to open to others. Camp Buckwood was kind enough to let us set up a booth there this summer so 3 times we have had our leather available for purchase. It was nice exposure and we were thankful for the opportunity and we had Labor Day weekend for our final time this year. We had been making more items and building inventory to get ready and then comes Aug 29th. I finished work at 4:30 and went right to bed and slept until the next morning. Aug 30th I went to the office and worked but I felt lousy all day, came home and again right to bed. Aug 31 more of the same. I hate to say COVID but whatever it was knocked me flat on my back. So when we were supposed to go to Buckwood on Friday Sept 1st Jose called to let them know that we wouldn’t be there because I was half dead. We planned to go Saturday morning but I still felt like death. So Saturday night Jose drove to Buckwood to deliver an order that we promised to someone. While he was there someone from Buckwood (their staff) asked him if he could come the next day because they didn’t have a vendor so Jose agreed. Then he came home and spent all night getting things ready to be able to return in the morning. I’m still not feeling half myself so I’m no help, he gets everything ready himself. Sunday morning I feel slightly better so I plan to drive my car and Jose his to the campground. We make the hour drive there, stop at the office to check in, speak to the employee working the desk and he tells us to set up somewhere near the pool. Cool…. We’ll do that. We just start to unload the cars and one of the Buckwood owners, Darrell, runs over and starts screaming at Jose like a mad man. Me, still being a bit under the weather I’m not sure what’s going on but it only took me a minute to realize that it was wrong so I said something and this caused “Darrell” to turn his focus on me and start with his threats and insults which I don’t take lightly and I don’t back down. So I returned some of the same. So…..I am still not sure what the issue was, what Jose or I did to disrupt his perfect little camping world or what medication Darrell forgot to take but we are now banned from Buckwood for life. (Huge loss, I’m in tears…. No not really) I think this is ridiculous but I guess as the owner he can ban who he wants and today that was us.
